Frequently Asked Questions

What should I wear? Is there a dress code?

The wedding’s dress code is semi-formal / formal. The walk up to where the Ceremony will take place may be difficult in heels, as it is in a forest. Dullstroom’s weather can be fickle, so try your best to dress accordingly

What is the weather like around this time of year?

Dullstroom has extremely difficult weather to plan for as one minute it could be warm and the next minute cool. On average, it is a maximum of 25° in December and can get as low as 15° degrees. There is a chance that it may rain (please no!) but we will make the most of the situation regardless. It is recommended to bring something warm, just in case…and umbrellas!

Is there a theme?

There is no theme

Where will the ceremony and reception take place?

The Ceremony will take place in a Pine Forest and the Reception will take place in the Reception Hall adjacent to the Chapel, both located at the Silver Sixpence Wedding Venue

What happens after the ceremony?

The wedding party & family will be taking group photographs nearby. The guests will be directed to an outside area where canapes and drinks will be served. We would love for you to relax and make use of the gin bar and beer-on-tap before the Reception starts

Are there other wedding events I can attend?

We will be having a dinner at the Brewery on the Friday night before the wedding i.e. 11 December 2020, which is situated at the Silver Sixpence Wedding Venue . We feel this is the perfect opportunity to have our guests mingle and meet each other before the wedding day. This event will also give us an opportunity to spend extra time with all our family and friends who will be travelling far and wide. Guests will be expected to pay for this dinner beforehand, which will be R100 per person. You will have indicated on the RSVP whether you will be attending, so we will contact you in due course to provide you with the banking details. Please note that there will be a cash bar only

What time should I arrive?

We would love for you to be there by 14h30 for 15h00. It is a beautiful walk up to the Pine Forest where the Ceremony will take place, with beverages on the way there…so be sure to allow enough time for this. Please make sure you are seated around 3pm for the Ceremony to begin

Where should guests park? Is parking available?

Parking is most definitely available. You will be directed to the parking area as soon as you enter the Silver Sixpence premises

Are children invited?

Children are most welcome…Nathan would love some friends to play with! There will be a special meal provided for the children and they will be seated at a Children’s Table in the Reception Hall

Can I bring a date?

Unfortunately this is an invite only wedding. Due to the fact that we have to stick to the COVID 19 Rules and Regulations regarding Social Gatherings, we are restricted to the amount of people allowed

Where do you recommend I stay?

All accommodation recommended on the wedding website is wonderful. I would just make sure when booking other accommodation that you check if it is close to the actual venue. We have stayed at Kloppenheim before and it was lovely…and it is extremely close to the venue

Is there an RSVP deadline?

If possible, we would really appreciate if all guests can RSVP by the 18th of October 2020. This will give us enough time to finalise numbers, meals etc.

Will food and drinks be served at the Reception?

As can be seen in the RSVP, you have to stipulate whether or not you have any specific dietary requirements. Please make sure you fill this in correctly to avoid disappointment with the meal that will be served. Drinks will be covered to a limit but there is a card machine available if you would like to have an extremely big night
