James & Stacey

Our blog

James and I have been backwards and forwards about what to do with regards to our wedding during this global pandemic. Do we postpone in the hopes that things settle down next year? Or do we go ahead with the wedding and adhere to the president’s rules and regulations regarding social gatherings. We have guests coming from overseas as well, as a guest list that exceeds the 50 people limit.  James and I, regardless of what the pandemic throws at us now, have decided that we could not wait any longer to get married. We have already been engaged for 15 months and we are beyond excited to start this new journey together.

Last night, 16 September 2020, the president addressed the nation and put our minds at ease and made our hearts incredibly happy. International travel will be resuming before the wedding and although we can have more guests than expected, we did have to cut our lists down from the original list we made at the end of last year. But If the corona virus has taught us anything it’s to never take anything for granted and be thankful for what we have. Thank you, Cyril!

This year has been an incredibly difficult year for everyone, and we cannot wait to celebrate and party until the early hours of the morning!

Global pandemic= 0

James and Stacey= 1

Planning a wedding can be daunting, scary and nerve-wracking at the best of times. I mean it is the day that your families come together, a day that you become husband and wife and probably the biggest party you will hold in your lifetime. Now, with the current pandemic happening it becomes 10 times worse. Our future is unpredictable at this point and, even if we planned everything out perfectly, some things are completely out of your control.

After a lot of consideration, we have decided that we are getting married on the 12th of December 2020, but we are not certain of the restrictions that we will have at the time. Having said this, we want to plan our wedding day without the fear of “what if.” We want to give everyone something to look forward to and we want people to realise that even though we don’t know the end date to this, there will be a time that COVID-19 becomes a chapter in the history books.

Some guests will hopefully be coming from overseas and we are very understanding of the uncertainty of international travel during these times. We are taking it day by day and we are holding thumbs that you will be able to join us.

James and I are extremely lucky to have such an incredible support structure that has helped us, mentored us and played big roles in our lives and our story together. This occasion is as much about you as it is about us. We want our families and friends to enjoy this occasion. We want it to be a weekend filled with love and laughter, something we can cherish forever and memories we can look back on in 60 years’ time.

With everything that has happened this year, it has made us realise the importance of family, how much we love each other and that no matter what life throws at us, that we must make the most of every situation and that we can get through everything as long as we have each other.

Thank you for your constant support during these times…we cannot wait to celebrate with you all!
